Nottingham Road - The Heart Of The KZN Midlands
Nottingham Road is a quaint, picturesque town situated just 19 km south of Mooi River and 59 km north-west of Pietermaritzburg. Known by many as the “heart” of the KZN Midlands, it’s a town infamous for its captivating scenery, amazing hospitality and cordial locals. This popular trout-fishing area was founded in 1905 and named after the Nottingham Regiment that was stationed there.
Visitors to Nottingham Road can expect taverns with an old-fashioned but pleasant oddness, amazing hospitality, stud and sheep farms as well as historic landmarks. Farmers markets, polo matches, music and arts festivals all await enthusiastic tourists who visit this riveting little town.
There are exhilarating outdoor activities and sports for all those adrenalin junkies – For the animal lovers, the wildlife conservation awaits you – And for the shopaholics, there are arts ‘n crafts that will have you shopping until you drop. Some travellers may take a whistle-stop tour through the town en-route to Durban in the south or Johannesburg in the north. For the more adventurous, there is a little detour we highly recommend your take. Situated in the Midlands Meander and in close proximity to Nottingham Road, is the Caversham Mill restaurant and Midlands Forest Lodge. The drive from Nottingham Road via the R103 will take up around 19 minutes of your time and about 22 minutes if you’re going via the N3. Here are the directions.
